UV light can speed up the germination and the root development process for seeds and cuttings. As you transplant seedlings to more intense light sources, UV strengthens the plants, better preparing them for high intensity light. Exposure to UV in the early stages of plant growth reduces shock time and speeds up the photosynthesis production process. This will increase plant growth leaf thickening and pigmentation and may also be useful in preventing some insect infestations.
You can also use this LED to increase UV levels during the plants blooming / flowering phase, to increase beneficial vitamins and promote larger and healthier flowers.
Important safety information
Be careful if you use a UV light, if it is too strong or positioned too close to your plants you could harm them. Exposure to too much UV will result in bleaching of your plants. Bleaching occurs when a plant's cells are given too much UV light and they become damaged and discoloured, if this happens you have your light to close to your plant. You should either remove the UV light or move it further away from your plant canopy.
We recommend starting further away than you would normally and move closer once you see how your plant reacts to the UV light.
