150mm x 75mm Hydroponic NFT Gully 1 Metre Length 

NFT – Nutrient Film Technique is when the nutrient solution flows down a covered gully or channel at approx. 1mm deep. The thin film is essential as it allows much of the Oxygen required by the plant to be taken from the air above the roots. The roots will form a dense mat in the gully channel. The shallow film of liquid flowing under the roots ensures a permanent supply of water and essential nutrients. This while the upper surface of the root mat, although moist, is in the air inside the gully, this ensures a permanent supply of Oxygen.

When setting up NFT Gully it is recommended that you use 1 in 40 slope to eliminate pooling within your gully.

Capillary matting can be used in your gully to help with initial root establishment and development

As a general guide, flow rates for each gully should be 1 Litre per minute. At planting, rates may be half this, and the upper limit of 2 Litres per minute appears about the maximum. Flow rates beyond these extremes are often associated with nutritional problems.
