Aqua Clay Balls 8-16mm - Small 5 Litre Bag

Aqua Clay Pebbles commonly referred to as Clay balls but also known as LECA which is short for Lightweight expanded clay aggregate.

Canna Aqua Clay hydroponic growing medium is manufactured in the Netherlands from high grade special types of clay that have a low soluble salt content and then baked into clay pellets ranging in size from 8mm to 16mm. Clay balls are an ideal substrate – growing medium having a neutral pH value, No EC or CF value effecting your nutrient balance and being inorganic and fungus free so they do not rot and can be easily washed and reused. Clay balls have both high porosity up to 80% and high air content which stimulate the development of strong roots that grip the substrate well. Strong roots mean healthier plants and bigger yields. 

Clay balls have many uses including

  • Use as a hydroponic growing medium
  • Creating a drainage layer in the bottom of your pots
  • Can be mixed into other growing mediums to improve aeration and drainage
  • Decorative plant medium topping to improve appearance while lowering moisture evaporation.   

We suggest you wash – rinse your clay balls before use due to a fine clay dust forming during transportation. This is especially important when being used in Hydroponic systems as this dust can clog up your water pumps, hoses etc.
